Benefits of Hebel

1. Thermal efficiency
The millions of tiny, evenly dispersed bubbles in Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (ACC) give Hebel walls great insulating properties. This means a more pleasant living environment with lower heating and cooling costs.

2. Acoustic performance
CSR Hebel has excellent acoustic properties. The non-interconnected cellular structure provides significantly better sound absorption than conventional concrete resulting in a quieter internal environment.

3. Fire resistance
Autoclaved aerated concrete is one of the most effective materials for providing a firewall. Any Hebel block wall thicker than 100mm will achieve a 4 hour fire rating, which is the highest rating possible and is far superior to normal brickwork or concrete. Power Panel walls achieve a 3 hour fire rating, also far exceeding New Zealands building requirements.

4. Lightweight
The cellular structure of CSR Hebel results in a density of only about one fifth of normal concrete. The low density means faster and easier construction and less load concerns.

5. High Strength to weight ratio
During manufacture Autoclaved Aerated Concrete is steam cured in a pressurized autoclave. The concrete actually turns to rock, forming microscopic crystals of calcium silicate hydrate. Unlike many polystyrene or plaster systems CSR Hebel blocks and panels are solid, robust and impact resistant.

6. Easily worked
AAC can be easily cut, drilled and nailed by using normal hand tools. Block walls are readily routed for provision of services.

7. Versatile
Due to the ready workability of CSR Hebel it can be cut to virtually any shape or angle. The building systems can be used for walls, roofs, floors, balconies, fire places, stairs, fences and noise barriers.

8. Rapid assembly
Powerpanel is supplied in large panels up to 3m x 600mm and is easily fixed to battens mounted on a timber frame. With masonry construction the large block size and use of a thin bed mortar allows rapid and accurate installation.

9. Dimensional Accuracy
The patented manufacturing process ensures consistent and highly regular sizing of blocks and panels as they leave the factory. Variation is minimal allowing accurate installation and enabling economical application of a variety of finishing systems.

10. Low shrinkage
CSR Hebel has low shrinkage compared with timber and even conventional concrete. This minimizes any tendancy for cracks to form after construction.

11. Environmentally friendly
The production process of CSR Hebel is highly efficient, consuming less raw materials and energy than other masonry production. All waste products are collected and recycled back into the manufacturing process. The only byproduct formed and released is steam. And your completed home will be very energy efficient.

12. Non toxic
CSR Hebel products do not containany toxic gas substances.

13. Pest resistant
CSR Hebel does not support rodents, fungus, insects, or any other pests. It will not rot, decay or deteriorate over time.

14. Earthquake resistant
Heavy masonry structures have a tendancy to tear themselves apart under oscillating earthquake loads. Hebel masonry is only 20% of the weight of conventional concrete and it’s height to weight ratio has ensured many AAC buildings have survived earthquakes unscathed.

15. Low Maintenance
A wide range of finishing options are available. When properly finished you’ve got a low maintenance building and just as important…..
